MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING –7 P.M. ON TUESDAY 25^TH MARCH 2008.

AT THE GREEN METHODIST CHURCH, THIRSK.

 

AGENDA

 

• ATTENDANCE - 39 club members  APOLOGIES – rec’d from Mick Heyworth, Jenny Denham, Yvonne Mills, Angela Bowness, Tom Hodgson, Frank Jones, Peter & Ann Johnson, Maureen Tebb, Richard Hill and Pat Richardson.

• MINUTES OF AGM MARCH 2007 – having been posted on the club notice board and there being no amendments, they were agree unanimously and signed by the Chairman.

• CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – delivered and filed with the minutes.

• TREASURER’S REPORT AND STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS presented by the Chairman from notes by Richard Hill – after some minor discussions they were proposed for adoption by John Digby & seconded by David Page, passed unanimously and filed with the minutes.

• EXECUTIVE OFFICER’S REPORT AND PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES                 
• Cup Winners for 2007/2008:
• The Alumnus Cup – Mike Kelly  The Chairman’s Handicap Shield – Mike Kelly
• The Jubilee Cup – Tony Swiers & John Digby Overall Winner’s Trophy –John Digby       The Jadran Vase – Gerry Allen  Overall Handicap Pairs Trophy – Jenny Denham & Rachel Ritchie
• Overall Pairs Trophy – Tony Swiers & John Digby  HSBC Trophy – Jane Bartlett & Robin Garbutt
• TEAM CAPTAINS’ REPORTS:

• HAMBLETON LEAGUE
• Rachel Ritchie - reported that Thirsk had won 3 of their 4 matches and the Vale of York had lost all their matches in the revamped league, the last match is to be played in April.  There is some doubt whether the league will continue.
• YCBA
• ‘A’ Team – Mike Heyworth’s report was read to the meeting in his absence, currently joint 2nd   ‘B’ Team – Ann Johnson’s report was read to the meeting in her absence. With 1 match to play they are lying in 3^rd place. Both Captains expressed their thanks to all players who had participated.
• ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE FOR 2007/8
• CHAIR – Mike Heyworth
• SECRETARY – Janet Peckitt
• TREASURER – Richard Hill
• MATCH SECRTARY – Rosemary Page
• 3 COMMITTEE MEMBERS – Rachel Ritchie, John Digby & Jenny Denham
•         Co-opted member –David Hoult Executive Officer – Jack Rouse                                                All proposed ‘on block’ by Tony Swiers, seconded by Gerry Allen and agreed unanimously.
• TABLE MONEY: agreed @ £2 for members & £2.50 for non members
• CLUB SUBSCRIPTION: agreed @ £7.50
• DAVID LOVEDEN CUP
• It was agreed to hold a friendly “No Fears” (Simple systems only) aggregated scores on Monday 19^th May at Thirsk and invite Thornton le Beans & Thirlby Clubs.
• AOB – Tony Swiers asked about the Committees decision on the automatic card-sorting machine, the next committee to review the matter
• THE CHAIRMAN declared the meeting closed at 7.25pm
